Google is now displaying photo’s from the Menu in the knowledge panel for business pages that have added images to their business pages.
Google does provide specific photo sections for restaurants / cafes in their Manage Photo’s.
There is a prompt to take a photo and add, however I have not found any photos from the menu being displayed that are publicly uploaded. So I assume any publicly uploaded photo’s added are currently displayed as all photo’s and not within the Menu section.

Restaurant Menu Photo’s
These images are being extracted from the accounts “Additional Photo” section.
Cafe / Coffee Shop Menu Photo’s
These images are extracted from the accounts “Menu Photo” section.
Manage your Photo’s
Google provides different photo sections depending on the businesses type.
Google recognises what type of business you have. Regular stores are offered :
- Identity photos
- Interior photos
- Exterior photos
- Product photos
- Team photos
- Additional photos
Whilst a Hotel business page is offered :
- Identity photos
- Interior photos
- Exterior photos
- Food & drink photos
- Common area photos
- Room photos
- Team photos
- Additional photos
And a Restaurant business page is offered:
- Identity photos
- Interior photos
- Exterior photos
- Food & drink photos
- Menu photos
- Team photos
- Additional photos
Add your Photos to your Business Page
- Sign in to Google My Business and choose the page that you’d like to manage.
- Click on Manage photos on your business dashboard
- Choose the type of photo that you’d like to add.
- Upload your photo from your computer or choose one that you’ve already uploaded to Google+. Make sure that it meets content guidelines and best practices.
